Classy not Trashy
a girl’s guide to being classy in college
Introduction: Classy. This word seems almost foreign when seen or heard by most women. To the majority of college women the word does not even ring a bell. In fact, the only thing that may come to their minds is an aged picture of Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, but the word will not stick with most of them nor will it cause them to ponder the definition because frankly the idea of being classy is almost forgotten in our college society. Most college women are so accustomed to binge drinking, hooking up, cursing, and showing cleavage only appropriate for MTV reality, that it is no wonder that the word classy does not resonate with them. Although this is a sad reality, it does not mean that college women are incapable of learning the guidelines for living a classy life or that we cannot begin a new generation of classy college women. One of the biggest reasons why college woman do not think twice about the meaning of classy is because many think of being fun and classy as two conflicting ideas. They believe that classy cannot be sexy or fun and vice versa. As we write this book, we want to show college women (like ourselves) the importance of being a classy lady as well as the sexy mystery that comes with the territory. With some help, lessons, tips, and ideas we believe that any college woman can transform her life from trashy to classy.
